If you’re a working person — an early educator, a plumber, a small business owner, a single parent — you can’t just walk away from your job for months to go serve at the Roundhouse. Only people with wealth, a super-flexible job, or a pension can afford to do that. So decisions about our healthcare, childcare, wages, and cost of living keep getting made by rooms full of people who don’t have to worry about any of it.
Constitutional Amendment #4 could change that. Legislators’ pay would be directly tied to New Mexico’s median household income. If income in NM goes down, so does legislator pay. If it goes up, so does theirs. It’s the same standard we live by, applied to the people making our laws.
For us, this is about making sure the people in power actually look like the communities they represent. Amendment 4 opens the door at the Capitol to the nurses, childcare educators, construction workers, and working parents who are shut out of it right now.
That’s why we support Vote for Change, and why we want every OLÉ member in the Albuquerque area to join us this Thursday to get trained and knock doors with us!
Community Canvass Day
📅 Thursday, September 24, 2026
⏰ 4:00 – 8:00 PM
📍 530 Jefferson NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108
We’ll start with food and a quick training. You’ll learn the “Yes on 4” message, get a simple script, and head out in teams to talk with voters. We’ll finish with a debrief before 8pm. Food and materials are provided.
This is how change gets made in New Mexico. We don’t wait for someone else to fix it. We show up, knock on doors, and talk to voters, so we can WIN!
See you Thursday!
